Introducing the Domino Fund

There are many ways to play dominos, but there is one way that many learn at a young age and is the most simple. Set up a domino on its side, then another, and continue on until you have a long line of standing dominos. With the smallest amount of force, or even an accidental brush of your sleeve, one domino will fall into the next, into the next and then into the next, creating a chain reaction that is quite hard to stop. And for many of us, we can relate to the frustration of having to start all over setting the pieces up again.

This year, at MAP, we are wrapping up the 2022 year with The Domino Fund, in hopes to create a wave of positive momentum for our moms through single donations, while also recognizing that trauma has already set off a negative reaction of life experiences for the mothers in our program.

Setting up a row of dominos takes focus, patience, and a vision for where the line of tiles should go. Likewise, every small decision and unique experience we have create our lives, for better or worse. For our mothers entering our program, their dominos include certain unshakeable traumas that prematurely create negative momentum in their lives, so much that they cannot reverse that momentum on their own. Our goal? Address and heal these trauma wounds to halt and this domino effect from negatively impacting their lives any further. This is psychological resilience.

The Domino Fund will allow us to invest in creating healthy relationships for our moms, through a strong team

In agreement with standing research, we’ve found that the most effective environment to treat trauma wounds is through one that includes healthy relationships. Trauma came as a result of a broken relationship and this must be healed through a whole one. The Domino Fund will allow us to invest in our team in order to serve our mothers that much better. Each phase of the MAP program connects mothers to real people on our team, allowing relationships to begin and flourish. We connect mothers to social workers, child care volunteers, therapists, and more to stop the effects of trauma in their lives. As we continue to build a healthy team, we become more available to build relationships with our program participants, creating a positive domino effect against trauma!

Will you be one of the healthy relationships these mothers experience? Giving with no strings attached. Giving with faith in the value and abilities of our moms. Believing that the relationships our MAP team builds can help restore what trauma has already knocked down?
